July 4th Parade

After sleeping in on our day off, we decided we could make the July 4th parade in Kaysville. We went last year & we were not impressed so we were going to try it again, then BBQ at my parents. Well, if you like the view of people standing in the road, this is a great parade for you.
Here is my cousin going past in the Davis High Marching Band. My cousin Daryl is the letter V.

Staging was pretty lousy, and standing to watch the parade is not fun. I really think I need to volunteer for this parade. Two years in a row of not being impressed with this parade! Instead of complaining, maybe I need to be part of it. Geez. But we did get a few smiles and enjoyed seeing a few fun things at the parade.

(See this picture-my kids are there with some of my relatives in a small group. I would not let my kids go past the line. Notice they are not the furthest ones out in the road----I tried to scare my kids-I didn't want them to get ran over first, I want the people in front of us to get ran over before we did. Grr. The people back on the curb, and even up on the grassy area cannot see a thing. Horrible Parade, and I don't usually complain about much. Grr.)

Catch-up: Memorial Day

Memorial Day was enjoyed at Pineview Reservoir. This year, we had some friends join us, Grant & Jenny and their 4 boys, and Jimmy's parents. Grant took his canoe to the lake Saturday morning and the kids got a ride. It was their first time in a canoe! Good job for trying it out guys! As you can see, the sun was NOT out much this weekend. When it was not raining, we were out playing. When it was raining, we were in the trailer trying to stay entertained.

He is so handsome-even camping! (Jimmy just saw the picture-he liked it-I always try & get pix like this of us together. Usually that's all we have time for-a quick picture before we go chase kids or keep them from hurting each other)
We have been camping at Pineview together over 12 years. We love this place-before kids and with kids.

Cousin cooper enjoyed the weekend with us too.

Catch-up: Begin Summer Fun

Splash pad with friends:
FREE & FUN

And trips to the library-FREE. This visit had a juggler. Awesome-even if he did show the kids how to put a noddle up your nose and have it come out your mouth! Yes-gross/unique but he did ask permission before he did it.

Catch-up: Mud Run

A friend of ours invited Jimmy or I to join their team for a Mud Run located in Woods Cross---close+free=YES! I just ran the River Rail Relay, so it was Jimmy's turn. Jimmy joined the Graphic Auto groups team, and that meant the kids got to run it too. Ashley was the only brave one to do it, because she had one of her best friends to do it with her! Sweet!
Yes, I decorated Jimmy's shirt for him-He did not write that on there! Silly me! The run was about 2 miles in a dirt field, then the last mile or so was the mud obstacle course.

Ashley started while Jimmy was in the field. Here she is finishing with her friend Adrena.

 Then Jimmy finished.

The team together. This mud run benefits the Utah chapter of the JDRF. Thanks Mike for inviting us!
They both had a good time. It was tough, as both of them would report. It was scary for Ashley to try something new, and unfamiliar without mom or dad there, but she fell in LOVE with it and was SO happy to do this run! She wants to do another one!

Catch-up: End of School year

Charlie graduated preschool this year. He will start kindergarten in the fall! Here he is with his buddy Sam.
The girls came home from school with a treat from the crossing guard lady, and a bookbag full of papers, report cards, projects, pencil boxes, and fun memories. Sarah is READY for 2nd grade, and Ashley will conquer 4th grade.
