The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...Run Again

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...Run Again
Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay 2012
Van 1
Jimmy, Charlotte, Marla, Lori, Amanda & Jay with Driver Jack
We headed up to Wellsville Thursday night! The above picture was before bedtime!
Ragnar weekend was finally beginning! After lots of planning, prep work, and training it was finally here! Two of the kids were with my mom, and the other two were with Jimmy's parents. Its a LOT of working getting 6 people ready for a weekend get-away going in 3 different directions.
Friday morning-Out team had a nice 7:45 am start time. But safety training first! Here is Jimmy getting is game face on, since he is starting us out as runner #1.
My friend Lori filled in as a replacement, runner #4. She was excited to do the race. Her husband has done Ragnar on a corporate team, so now Lori had her chance!
My cousin Charlotte! High school graduate & BYU bound! Never done anything like this!!
Driver Jack & me! Thanks dad for driving us!
 Safety training complete-packet pickup complete!
Volunteer Trent. Thanks little Bro for volunteering
(Each team must provide 3 volunteers for the race. Volunteers get to pick what they do, when & where) Trent picked to volunteer at the start so we got to see him!
 Van 1 picture
And we are off! Go Jimmy!
Yup-I saw a celebrity-the Gingerbread Men! Their team made a cool video for 2010 and I LOVED it! HERE is the link-very cute! I wonder if they have one for 2011 & 2012? I must look.
Jimmy is the orange dot in the middle of this picture. His first run was on a trail & we couldn't see him or cheer for him. So we waited at the end of the trail for him. He survived it, but he said it was HARD.
A little water and he continues running for a few more miles.
Safety-Anytime you are out of your vehicle to help your runner, cross the street, or almost anything, you need a cool orange flag. Safety is a priority for Ragnar!
Water again-I gotta check on my honey!!
Here is runner #2, Charlotte on her run. Her first run was a best for her-the furthest she has ever run. Nice little neighborhoods to run through.
Then I started-runner #3. It was starting to get HOT outside! I carried water in my new water belt and knocked out my 6.91 miles in Hyrum, Utah. My pace was okay-avering a 10:19 minute mile, which is about where I train at but heat made me go a little slower. But I was happy, and it felt good. I noticed the Hyrum Reservoir, which I didn't notice last year. I didn't have to walk and my music worked the whole time-except for part of the last half mile. I passed a few people, and was passed by a few people too.
Jay is happy-he hasn't had to run yet!!
 Jay giving Lori water.
 Cute!!

My niece Amanda is about to start her first run, and her dad, Jay is there to make sure she is ready! CUTE!

Amanda had a 7 mile run-uphill on a dirt road. It was dusty. See the dirt piled on the top ridge of the sticker. Crazy!
Support for Amanda! Water & a check up-how are you doing?
We gotta take care of our runner. This is a hard run, and Amanda did great with the heat & dust & uphill. Here we are supporting our runner again!
 Flag fun & nice scenery!
I saw another celebrity by the porta potties-yes. Mr Hungry Runner aka Billy. His wife has a great website about running, food, and other stuff. I love looking at daily. I was thrilled to see him & get a picture. Here is the website. I was SO excited!
Jay-runner #6 knocked out his downhill run. NICE view of the Ogden Valley!
Go Rubber Chicken! Cheer on jay or eat jay.....what are you doing in this picture? lol!
And Van 1 has completed their first run of Ragnar! Jay is passing off to Rachel in Van 2-runner #7. (Runners 1-6 run, and then runners 7-12 run, then we start again with runner #1. As a 12 person relay team, we cover 197 miles) We were ready for a break~Must eat, rest, drive to the next exchange point & get ready to run again.
More Ragnar post to come.

Spring Sports

Jimmy & I love our kids! We want them to be healthy, active, and learn life lessons from playing team sports. Spring time is full of uncertain weather and spring sports! It was super busy with Ashley & Sarah playing soccer and Charlie doing T-ball. LUCKY we didn't have games conflict-well maybe a few, but each kid had their own night of their own sport. The camping chairs, blankets, & jackets had their special place in the back of the suburban. Uniforms & shoes to keep track of-grr sometimes..... And now it is almost all over-we SURVIVED! The kids do SO well by the end of the season-they make improvements! What else can we ask for?  I love seeing their progress and hard work all coming together but also having fun and making new friends.
Here are pix from the season & lots of silly sideline pictures!
