Glue & Stitches

‎1 record set. 1 incident. 2 kids. 2 co-pays. 1 treatment room. 1 kid glued chin shut. 1 kid stitches. 5 stitches. 3 adults to hold the toddler down. Lots of suckers, stickers, and crying.

I love parent moment when you have to decide: Does that need stitches?

the doctor said it was probably a record for him. 2 kids being treated from the same accident.

charlie was hugging sophie. (and from what I gathered-no witnesses & these kids are 2 and 4 years old) sophie pulled away from the hug before charlie-pulling them both down.
charlie got a cut under his chin-probably from a straight edge. he was glued closed. not as bad. sophie must have hit a slight edge of the table or just her bone by her eyebrow & cut open her eyebrow. it was kinda deep & gross. she got stitched up.

since we had to go to the doc for one-sophie-might as well have charlie looked at too.this was before school-so no stress at all-ha! yeah right.

clean the wound. numb it up.

Back to Sophie

she probably should have been strapped down to the table-she was BAD. moving & jerking while a doc is sewing in her head made a stressful moment.

So I didn't call & tell Jimmy where we were or what we were doing. I just sent him two pictures on his phone-one of each kid. THEN after we were done, I called him to tell him the story. Lesson learned-STRAP the toddler to the papoose (sp?) board! man! Holding her still while the doc was stitching was HARD! Yes-I finally lost it when Sophie was giving up her fight right toward the end of the stitching. STRESSFUL situation!

Ashley is LOVED!!

Ashley had a small birthday party this year. Her school was holding a fall carnival, so we invited little sister, and two of Ashley's best friends to join us at the fall carnival. It was the first fall storm the night of the carnival, so the bounce houses were cancelled, so we did the activities inside the school. Pizza, hair tinsel, and some games.

Oh yes-then ice cream!

These two friends of Ashley's are wonderful girls. They are very different, but they are each very important in Ashley's life. I hope she is friends with these gals a LONG time. I like them (and their family's are cool too).

Really-I love my baby girl! Isn't she cute? It was so funny just how she was sitting eating her breakfast one morning! Isn't she going to be a fun teenager?

Fall Harvest

Ashley took these pictures of the garden in September. She made a photography entry for her school's PTA relfections contest. (can't wait for the results-did she win anything?)

We enjoyed lots of time in the garden this year. It was great to go out & pick fresh corn, carrots, beets, peppers, tomatoes, and cantelope from the garden this year. I love the fact that my kids actually help plant, weed, and water the garden.

We LOVE having our own pumpkins to pick too! (BTW-future blog post-we just carved some pumpkins tonite! FUN!)

The first frost has happened, so now, no more fresh tomoatoes! And now its time to clean up the garden for next spring!

Ashley is 9 years old!

Wow. My oldest daughter is 9 years old!

Ashley looked super cute on her 9th birthday! We had a small family gathering at Jimmy's maternal grandparents house on Ashley's birthday, and we played around in the backyard and took these pictures. Cute!

Yes-Ashley is a mini-me. I see it. Friends who knew me when I was little ALWAYS say it. Family says it too. I think she gets tired of hearing it....but I LOVE it!

I love my Ashley. She is growing up so much. We are trying to give her more responsibility and we expect a lot from her, being the oldest of 4 kids. We appreciate when she helps out with her siblings, or other kids that are over at our house. She works hard when she wants to and knows to impress, when she wants to. She has many friends, and is nice to others. She sometimes plays shy, but she is a good, outgoing girl! She is special to us and really one of a kind!! Happy Birthday Ash!

This is probably what I need

By december 26th, I will have been actively running a year. hmmm---I will have to add up my miles this year. That could be fun.
I have completed a half marathon, 10K, non-racing 5K (with the kids), a sprint triathlon, and two relay races. I have enjoyed my running journey this year.

Any friends want to do it with me? The chances of winning something, yeah right, but its fun to see numbers add up (as long as those numbers are not increasing on the scale!)

btw-I don't get on the scale much, but from mid-august to mid-october, I lost 4 pounds. again-i don't get on the scale much, but it was nice to see some change. too bad i haven't changed much in my diet...oh well.

Soccer Season

Fall is soccer season for the girls!

Its great to see the girls make improvements with their game of soccer. They work hard, and have fun! Ashley is the team Smurfettes.

Sarah is improving as a defensive player, but likes a wing position. Sarah has scored a few goals this year.

I didn't notice she left the house with her shorts on inside-out! see tag! CUTE GIRL!

The girls' coaches work hard coaching their teams. Its not an easy volunteer position. THANKS TO MICHELLE & BRAD. Both girls did great in soccer. The girls played in September and October, with each having 1 or 2 games a week. We have a break, with soccer starting back up in March or April.

Football Season

College Football Season has begun!

The University of Utah is now part of the Pac-12, so there was lots of excitement for this football season. (yes-too bad they are 0-4 in conference play. that bites. Utah does not have the same talent as some of the other Pac-12 schools. BUT WE BEAT BYU THIS YEAR!)

We took Runnin Wild to the season opener football game. We stopped in the book store, and Runnin Wild liked his picture with other birds.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

There was a little incident in the section next to us during the game. Two potty mouth guys just about got in a fight with a dad that was asking them to stop the bad language. The dad's son was upset at the bad language. It was a good scream fest, almost a punch. Cops eventually made it down (BTW-it took a while to get someone down there.....I didn't want to run out of my seat to go tell the security people in bright shirts, so luckily someone a few rows behind me & closer to the isle saw the heated incident and told security who sent the officers down), both were taken away, talked to, and they both ended up back in their seats and no other problems.
