Virtual Run for Sherry

This story touched me. A fellow RUNNER/WOMAN/MOM left the house one morning for a run in her small town of Montana. She never returned. Sherry Arnold never returned to her family, to her job or to the sport she loved: running.

Sherry Arnold - runner, mother, wife, daughter, and teacher- went for an early morning run on January 7, 2012, and never came home. Sherry's goodness, courage and strength prevail and she is not defined by the tragic way in which she died.
Her cousin, Beth, runs THIS blog. It is a good blog. I found the story of Sherry going missing in January, and followed it. I felt impacted by the loss of life. Beth organized a virtual run in Sherry's memory.

Despite the circumstances that will bring us together, smile because we are collectively doing something that symbolizes compassion and connectedness.

HERE is the story about the virtual run.

Saturday, February 11th I was LUCKY to get away for a girls weekend in Midway. I wanted to participate in the virtual run, SO I DID! (Plus I needed to run-LOTS of junk food consumed at this girls weekend-running burnt some of those calories!!) I told some of the ladies I was going to do this and some joined me for a walk in Sherry's honor.

I found the most peace and comfort when I ran about a mile by myself in Midway, Utah. The morning was quiet. The scenery was beautiful. I thought of Sherry. She probably had the same excitement for the new day, like I did. One of my favorite times of day is when the sun is just barely up, beginning to touch the earth and wake everything up. I enjoy when I get to run outside in this quiet moment before LIFE/STRESS/ROUTINES etc. begins. My heart was sad for her family, but excited I was part of something bigger than I can imagine-the Virtual Run for Sherry. I was excited to see some hot air balloons begin to take off in the Heber Valley. Hot Air balloons! COOL!

You totally can't see them-but there is a SPOT in each of these pictures. That's the balloons I saw!

4 Hot Air Balloons.

0.85 mile solo run

2.22 miles with Jessica run
1.47 miles walking/running with 5 ladies

1.14 miles with Nelly run/walk

Total: 5.68 miles

Sorry-cell phone pix weren't that great. It was a fun time to run at 6000 feet elevation with some ladies that were complete strangers to me who wanted to do something good. The balloons were kissing the heavens for Sherry that morning.

Shovels OUT

Gotta shovel the snow kids!

We got some snow one day, and the kids were out of school, so we went out and shoveled away. We were out for a few hours, shoveling sidewalks, driveways, and we even went a shoveled at the church. GREAT exercise for the kids, and even better---NOT a lot of whining or complaining!

My girl doesn't mind hand-me-down snow pants! Luckily Aunt Mary gave us some treats to help us out! Shovel=cookie! GREAT!

My Cute Baby Girl

My baby girl. Maybe its just we have some quiet-er/special times together as the girls go to school, and Char goes to preschool, but she is funny. Each of my kids are one-of-a-kind.steals mommy's drink.

We are potty training her. She wears her undies like her momma! Hiked-up! LOL-JUST kidding! Undies up, shirt tucked in, hat, ball. Come on-its that silly cute!

Phone? cute PJ's, sunglasses, and the cell phone.

Silly girl. Gotta love her!
