Swimming at the Recreation Center

Okay-I wanted to blog about SOMETHING. So I thought I was brave to take my three kids to the Bountiful Recreation Center to go swimming! We went on Tuesday night. I didn't have any kids to babysit during the day, so it had been a nice, fun, quiet day. Jimmy was just starting a Tuesday class, so he wasn't going to be home until 10pm. We want spring to come SOO bad. The girls got new swimming suits, and at least a few times a week they change into them. So, I decided to go swimming! Thanks to a friend, Trisha, I had a maternity swimsuit to wear, so I even felt okay with going out in public. I surprised the kids, told them to get ready, which they did. (You don't need to tell my girls twice to get their swimsuits on!) We had to stop at Grandma's to get the life jackets. If they wore them even part of the time, I felt I could manage. We got dinner to go-hamburgers at McDonalds. We ate those outside of the rec center then went it.

It was actually really fun! I enjoyed myself and the time with my kids! It took a while for Sarah & Charlie to get completely comfortable in the water. Oh Charlie-he doesn't like his face wet, so every time he would get a drop of water on his face, he would get out of the pool, walk over to our towels and dry off his face then come walk back in the water. We moved away from the towels so he wouldn't keep doing it. We went in the river thing, and walked over the bridge, and went under the bridge. That was fun for the kids. It was just a good time. We spent over an hour there! We got out, (Charlie didn't want to leave-of course!) and eventually made it home, Got the kids in PJ's and in bed, but it was a really fun time!

Here are a few pictures. I couldn't take more cause I didn't like leaving my kids alone in the water! I am happy no one drowned and they had fun!

Next week, half the family is going to California. Jimmy's parents have their condo in Newport Beach for a week. We just went to Disneyland in November, Ashley has school, and being pregnant, you can't ride too many rides, so we decided Ashley & I would stay home. The plans have changed a little, so as of now, 1 week away from leaving, here is the plan: Thursday night Jimmy, Sarah, Charlie, Jimmy's parents, and Jimmy's sister are driving down to California. They are going to meet up with Jimmy's other sister and her family. They will do Disneyland a few days, San Diego, and hang around the condo, then drive back on the 25th. So Ashley and I will enjoy 9 days of US! I babysit/watch (work at home) kids, so I will still have those little people to watch as normal, but the week should be GREAT! (ashley tells me we can do this:) GIRL TIME, she can sleep in my bed, or sleep down stairs as much as we want! We will go see Hannah Montana the movie then and some other things, we've made a list! So I gotta get the three of them packed and ready to go! YEAH! So look for some good blog posts then. Life will be great! Anyone want to come help surprise my husband by getting some projects done!?! Paint? Weeds? I hope the weather is good for me and them!

Boring Update

Jimmy said to me "you haven't updated the blog in a while". Well yeah, that's right. Nothing too exciting has gone on. Things are going on, and most the time they are going good, just nothing super cool to blog about. My pregnancy is moving into its third trimester, 3 months to go. I am happy with my weight gain. I haven't exercised much, but I am hoping to change that. The kids reminded me I hadn't been on the treadmill for a while and bugged me saturday morning until I got on. I have had a few emotional, pregnant days. I hate crying, especially in front of other people-my kids, and friends. But I am over it, happier and I learned:
*I can't go without leaving the house for multiple days again. (bus stop and preschool don't count)
*I want spring to come-warm, sunny weather please (like everyone else)
*Retail therapy works.
Jimmy had a little time between classes, so a break from the school stress has been nice. We started to do some spring shopping for the kids, and they are all happy owners of new flip-flops.
If I think of anything else, I'll share it..... bye blogging world. I always look for your blog updates!!

Las Chicas

Ahh, another volleyball season came to an end last night! And we ended the season with a victory! We ended the season 4-4. The Chicas finished another season in the C league that plays at Davis High School (Oh, dear, Old Davis High School, we'll fight for you. We'll fight for Davis.... Sorry, a little flash back! GO DARTS!) It has been a great 3 seasons with the team! I am thrilled to play volleyball with some friends! I gotta give a shout out to my parents-who willingly watch my kids-while I play volleyball and while my husband attends class. THANKS MOM & DAD!

My sis-in-law played on the team this season, and she is an amazing writer. see the "forever sweethearts" blog link to your right for a great description of the game last night. Ahh, its good. really-worth your time reading! It is good!

Ok-pictures are not the best-sorry friends, but here is our team for this season-minus Kim-who missed the game last night.

What! Another blog entry....

Wow-another blog entry from me! Ahh, I am a happy person, but the joys of life have prompted me to share a few highlights! I did enjoy a treat today (a coke and banana laffy taffy), so I don't think I am grumpy-and I usually don't "vent" about much on my blog but ahh! Maybe its just some "brain vomit" (debbie b. did you laugh at that?) to entertain the crowd!

*Polly pocket shoes are evil-they are just like weeds-just when you think you got them all cleaned up, more pop up. and they pop up days after Polly Pocket was cleaned up.

*Dress up clothes have been promoted to the top of MY closet. They are a mess. I need a time out from seeing them EVERYWHERE. Its like pulling teeth to get them picked up too. Polly Pocket, Hannah Montana Wig, and Make up have new company now.

*Charlie-no nap yet. Will this lead to a melt-down this evening?

*I hate matching my kids socks. That is always the LAST thing I do in laundry. There is always the search for matching socks when we are getting ready to leave the house. Is there some invention to wash your kids socks so they stay together during washing & drying?

*My 6 year old can be slob. Why do all your clothes end up on your floor? Why is it fun to have all the blankets out at the same time in the TV room? My 4 year old is a SAINT at helping mom out with little things! I LOVE my girls! What is this next one going to be like?

*{Cabela's Visa speaking} Thanks for paying off your credit card with a balance of $2000. (whew. One card gone.) As a way of saying thanks we are going to close your credit card! What! The "National Economic WOES" have hit us! Thanks. Whatever and BYE!

I promise there are many things I am thankful for! Family & friends, and LOTS of little good things have happened to me today and this week. I will share them if there is a demand, but ahh-small scream

JOYS of motherhood/womanhood/adulthood. I am happy! really. (blame the pregnancy if you need. but i don't want to blame it for this one.....)

Oh, so far i am 3 of 3 in my mens basketball bracket.

Love my kids! Love the warm weather!

Ahh, finally some weather above freezing! We have enjoyed a few moments outside so far! My kids are cute! Here are a few pictures of them outside.
Ashley celebrated her 100th day at school. They had a Dalmation party, so here is Ashley getting ready to go to school for Dalmation day! (and Sarah & Charlie at the bus stop too. Mom-take my picture too!)

T Shirt Pants

I learned how to make this at our ward sewing group. It was easy and these are GREAT pants! You will use 90% of the T shirt! If your shirt has a logo-great, but it won't "stay together" but it kinda makes it easier to piece together. I have used an adult XL short sleeved short for me, and adult medium shirts for pants for my kids. My 11 year old neice used an XL shirt too, while the 10 year old used a large for her. So depending on who the pants are for, depends on the shirt size you need. Long or short sleeved shirts will work.

You will need:
1 T shirt
ribbon, shoe lace, or elastic to fit around your waist
sewing machine

Instructions:
Lay out t-shirt

Cut off sleeves. (I cut my on the inside-toward the neck-side of the seam.)So it will look like a t-shirt that the guys play b-ball in…

Cut the neck off. You can use a ruler for a straight line. I just guessed. I cut mine just under the collar of the shirt. I have a logo on the front of my shirt, and a full logo on the back. Use this as a guide if you need.

Turn shirt inside out- you will be sewing this U. I pinned it, then sewed. Pick what ever hem allowance you want, I just guessed. I back stitched like an inch or so at the beginning and end. (*if these pants are for you, it wouldn't hurt to add another stich around the U. This is the crotch, and I've already blown a hole in the bum. so add another straight stitch 1/8 of an inch inside or do a zig zag) reinforcement

After sewing, fold the U in half. There should be two folds. CUT the two folds-yes it seems scary, but do it. My back logo gets cut in half.

You can see in my picture my logo is cut in half.

This match up is hard & I hope I can explain it. You are making your outside leg seam. Your back logo (or front logo) is cut in half. Match the back side of the shirt to a front side of the shirt.

Pin it, and sew from the bottom of the shirt to the top (neck). You want the seam at the bottom to match up, as this is the bottom of your pant leg. Back stitch.
Turn inside out. Check it out.

Waist band (I need to add better pictures for this)
Sleeves
Cut the sleeve open.

Lay out on top of each other.

You need two rectangles and the bigger the better-width and legnth. Sew 1 short side to another short side.

Start at the back of your pants, match up the waist band seam to the back seam of your pants, and pin around the waist. If your waist band piece isn’t big enough to fit around the waist, you need to stretch the waist band or add pleets to the pants. After you get it pinned around the waist, pin the two parts of the waist band together and sew. Then sew your waist band to your pants. (make sure the outside of the shirt is together. you will see this outside of the waist band when you wear the pants)

If you want to switch your sewing machine to do a button hole, you can do that on the front of the waistband. If you don’t want to-its okay. (I haven’t done it yet)

Fold your waist band over and pin again, and sew again. If you didn’t do the button hole, cut two small holes to feed your shoe lace or ribbon in & out of. Use a safety pin to pull the lace or ribbon through. Sew the end of your ribbon if you want so it won’t frey too bad, then try them on!!

Trim any excess you want off- Try them on! enjoy them.
clean up your mess!
hope i did okay at explaining it-if i didn't send me a comment, and I'll add another picture or add more words.
This is not copyright that I know of. Share it if I did a good job.
thanks.

Short Update

It has been too long since I've updated the blog. Life is happening, but nothing "big" to blog about. Let's see, what have the Burns been up to over the past couple of weeks?

To let all bloggers know-we are having a GIRL. Yes, another girl. wow. Are we ready for more drama, tears, emotions, and estrogen? well, it doesn't matter, cause we will welcome this little peanut into our family! The pregnacy is going fine. My girls remind me any chance they get "Mommy your tummy is getting bigger!" I have yet to pull out the maternity clothes, but I hope to this week. I have a doctors appointment this Friday, so we'll see how things are going.

We've been busy with stuff.....Jimmy's homework. Ashley was off track most of February, and by the end of February, I was HAPPY for her to back on track. Ahh, the past few days have been great having her gone in the afternoon!

Sarah turned 4 years old! yeah! We went with Jimmy's family to Sizzler for dinner and then to the Draper Temple Open house the day before her birthday. It was a fun night and the temple was GREAT! Pictures to come of that event! It was fun to ride a bus to the temple, a LIFE SAVER to have extra adults for our kids to hold onto, and we even tried to have a little spiritual moment, but the girls were too worried that mommy was crying. Don't know if they got the point-or were they just worried that mommy was crying-happy tears of course!

Jimmy traded his white 1997 Ford truck in for a 2006 red Ford truck. It has more room, but also his white one was slowly having $$ problems and problems cost $$. He is happy for it. There is room for everyone, and even room for kid #4 to fit, so we can go camping in style and comfort this summer and years to come. It is more reliable that the white one. Picture to come. Kids LOVE it-Daddy's new truck. I haven't driven it yet, but will sometime.

I have been busy watching kids, making some $$. I watch a total of 4 kids, but the 4 are only all here for 45 minutes one day a week. I am watching a little 4 month old till the school year finishes. Its good to get the baby stuff out, and its been good for the kids to practice having a baby around. Payday is nice, but it just makes life a bit more busy. Kid #4 will be an adjustment!

Charlie had an ear infection, so with the extra grouchy-ness, lack of sleep, and stuff, we've paused potty training for a time. We will start it back up soon. He was off and on, so its back to diapers, not messy underwear and no racing to the potty.

That's us in a nutshell.....I am sure I've missed some exciting events, but once I get the camera back out, I'll add some more.
